Transforming Contagion is an exciting and provocative symposium that explores contagion in the broadest sense by including perspectives about the spread, transmission, and modalities of contagion, including contagions that spread from bodies, but also contagions rooted in the literary, psychological, moral, educational, and political. Scholars from across the country (and beyond) will convene to give papers that span time periods and genres and will include topics as diverse as Ebola, bipolar disorder, the internet, gay panics, social movements, revolutionary literature, and viral murder. This event promises to be radical, creative, feminist, boundary-smashing, intersectional, politically relevant, and wildly interdisciplinary.
